Frequently asked questions

Clear answers to the questions people commonly have when estimating home loan repayments.

How are home loan repayments calculated?

The estimate uses a standard amortising formula. Your annual nominal rate is divided into the selected monthly, fortnightly or weekly repayment periods.

What affects my repayment amount?

A larger loan, higher rate or shorter term generally increases the required repayment. A longer term may reduce the periodic repayment but increase total interest.

How does interest-only work here?

Interest-only results are shown in two phases: the selected interest-only period, followed by principal and interest repayments over the remaining term. You can set a separate post-interest-only rate.

What's the difference between monthly, fortnightly and weekly repayments?

They are calculated as separate periodic estimates using 12 monthly, 26 fortnightly or 52 weekly periods per year.

Does this calculator include fees?

No. Lender fees, government charges, offset accounts, redraws and other product features are not modelled unless stated.

Is this a loan approval?

No. This is an estimate only and is not a loan offer, approval or servicing assessment.
