Privacy and information handling
Privacy policy
Gifted Loans respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal information carefully, transparently and in accordance with applicable Australian privacy laws.
About this policy
This policy explains the kinds of personal information Gifted Loans may collect and hold, how that information is used and disclosed, how it is protected, and how you can request access, correction or make a complaint.
Information we may collect
The information we collect depends on your enquiry and the lending assistance you request. It may include:
- your name, address, telephone number, email address and date of birth;
- identity and verification information;
- employment, income, expense, asset and liability information;
- credit history and information about existing or proposed lending;
- property, investment, business and transaction information;
- documents and communications you provide during an enquiry or application;
- feedback, complaint and service records; and
- basic technical information generated when you use this website, such as device, browser, IP address and server log information.
We only seek sensitive information where it is reasonably necessary for the service, you consent to its collection, or collection is otherwise permitted or required by law.
How we collect information
We usually collect information directly from you through telephone conversations, email, website forms, meetings and documents you provide. With your authority, we may also collect information from referrers, joint applicants, lenders, credit reporting bodies, identity verification providers, valuers, accountants, solicitors or other parties involved in your application.
If you provide information about another person, you should have their permission and make them aware of this policy where appropriate.
Why we use your information
We may collect, hold, use and disclose personal information to:
- respond to enquiries and arrange lending consultations;
- understand your objectives, financial circumstances and lending requirements;
- identify and discuss lending options and assist with applications;
- communicate with lenders and service providers with your authority;
- verify identity, prevent fraud and manage security;
- maintain client records, provide ongoing service and handle complaints;
- meet legal, regulatory, audit and record-keeping obligations; and
- improve our services and website.
Who we may disclose information to
Where relevant to your enquiry or application, information may be disclosed to lenders, mortgage managers, aggregators, credit reporting or identity verification providers, valuers, insurers, solicitors, accountants and other professional advisers. We may also use technology, cloud hosting, website, document storage and email service providers to operate the business.
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information where you have authorised us to do so, or where disclosure is required or permitted by law.
Overseas handling
Some technology and email providers may process or store information outside Australia, including in the United States and Japan. Provider locations can change. Where required, we take reasonable steps to ensure overseas handling is consistent with applicable Australian privacy obligations.
Website forms and technical data
Information submitted through this website is transmitted through our hosting and email delivery providers so that the enquiry can reach Gifted Loans. The website does not currently use advertising cookies. Hosting providers may still process standard security and server log information needed to deliver and protect the site.
Email and internet communications are not completely secure. Please do not send highly sensitive identification or financial documents through the general website enquiry form. We will tell you how to provide documents securely when required.
Google Analytics
Gifted Loans uses Google Analytics 4 to understand website usage, improve performance and measure marketing activity for visits identified as originating in Australia. Analytics is disabled when a visitor is not identified as being in Australia or when country eligibility cannot be reliably determined.
For eligible Australian visits, Google Analytics may automatically process information such as pages viewed, website interactions, session and usage information, browser and device details, approximate geographic information, and online identifiers or first-party cookies used for analytics. Gifted Loans deliberately configures its custom events not to send customer names, email addresses, phone numbers, enquiry messages, loan amounts, income, expenses, property addresses, application details or other financial information. This does not mean that all information processed by Google Analytics is anonymous or that Google collects no personal information.
Google processes Analytics information under its own terms and privacy practices. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy. You can manage or block cookies through your browser settings and may be able to use Google's Google Analytics opt-out controls. Disabling cookies or opting out may affect how website usage is measured.
Storage, security and retention
We take reasonable administrative and technical steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Information is retained only for as long as reasonably required for service, legal, regulatory and record-keeping purposes, then securely deleted or de-identified where appropriate.
Access and correction
You may ask to access personal information we hold about you or request that inaccurate, out-of-date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading information be corrected. Contact us using the details on this page. We may need to verify your identity before responding. If access or correction is refused, we will explain the reason where the law requires us to do so.
Privacy complaints
Please contact us first if you have a concern about how your personal information has been handled. Include enough detail for us to understand and investigate the issue. We will acknowledge and respond within a reasonable period.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services, technology or legal obligations change. The current version and update date will be published on this page.
